I had just started teaching at La Chat and had the pleasure of Sasha’s company in my Year 7 English class. Dr Tate, then Ecolint’s Director General, wax invited to the class. We were working on putting together a CD, filled with tracks from our lives. I had asked the class to suggest something personal from their lives to share with the rest of the group. I came to Sasha after a couple of folks had raised their hands. He said ‘I was adopted and I haven’t wanted to share that before’. The class applauded and Dr Tate and I recognised one of those moments in a classroom you always remember - when a child reaches a point where they have the courage to share. Rest in peace, my friend.
